This Week at Our Savior's Lutheran Church

The Gospel Bible Study meets Wednesday at 11:00am.  This week’s text will be Mark 1:1-8.  Come at 10:00am and be part of Pastor Phil’s Bible Study.

Wonderful Wednesdays for the Whole Family has activities for EVERY age group.  Come join us for dinner and fellowship on Wednesday evening.

On December 4th, Priscilla Circle will meet at the home of Ardy Erickson, 1880 Hunters Creek Way, Marion.  PLEASE NOTE: We will meet at 6:00pm.  Bring appetizers, salads or Christmas goodies for our evening meal.  If you would like to car pool, contact Anna Marie at 373-9260.  We can meet at church or at Anna Marie’s home.  If you need directions to Ardy’s home, call her at 365-4926.  All women of Our Savior’s are welcome.  Our January circle meeting will be on January 5th at 7:00pm.  Bring left-over Christmas goodies for a treat.

Our congregation is collecting money for a holiday gift to members of OSLC who have experienced hardships because of the flood or other circumstances.  The monetary gift may be put in the offering at services or mailed to the church and marked Holiday Gift.  Checks should be made out to OSLC and also marked Holiday Gift.  We would appreciate that gifts be turned in by December 14th.

Our Savior’s is going to be sponsoring a HACAP family for Christmas.  There are charts in the Narthex where you can sign up for contributing gifts or food.  We plan to deliver the gifts just before Christmas so all donations need to be dropped off in the Narthex by Sunday, December 14th.  The wrapped gifts need to be marked so we know what member of the family is to receive it, what the gifts is, including size information and your name so we can reference the chart where you have signed up.  Thanks for all your help in making this a special Christmas for this family.

During the Christmas Eve worship service at 5:30pm on December 24th, the children will have an opportunity to ring bells.  All children (no matter what age) are asked to bring small bells with them and be a part of our festive worship service.  Any questions, contact Pastor Phil.

Our Savior's is Adopting a US Marine fire team stationed in Iraq.  The members of this team are LCpl Jace Freeman, Brian DeBord and David Rensma.  We will be collecting basic needs items for them to use in the field until their return home in February.  Their needs include: Baby wipes in hard plastic cases, no sticky tab closures as sand renders them useless( they use lots of wipes); Fruit flavored gum; Store bought vacuum sealed cookies; Starbursts and Fruit gushers; Chewy Granola Bars, no almonds; Individual snack packets like cheese or peanut butter and crackers etc.; Jack Links Beef Jerky; Bags of nuts, peanuts, cashews etc.; trail mix; yogos; Energy drinks esp Monster & Full Throttle; AA batteries and compressed air to get sand out of everything.  Pocket sized items are best as it will allow them to carry the items easier when out in the field.  Items can be dropped off on Wednesday the 3rd and at the Weekend services on the 6th and 7th.  We plan on boxing up the items on Sunday, so we can ship the care package on Monday, December 8th.  Thanks in advance for your participation.
